Ten Thousand Villages Opens in Rockvale Outlets

A new store has opened in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the Rockvale Outlets at Routes 30 & 896.

(AKRON, PA) – Ten Thousand Villages, the world’s largest and one of the oldest fair trade retailers of artisan-crafted products announces its newest retail location in Lancaster, Pennsylvania located at Rockvale Outlets, Routes 30 & 896. The store opened its doors to the public on Thursday, September 3.

“This is a great opportunity to expand the mission of Ten Thousand Villages,” said Craig Schloneger, Ten Thousand Villages U.S. Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to working with Rockvale Outlets to spread the mission of fair trade throughout the greater Lancaster community.”

Featuring products from more than 130 artisan groups in 38 countries, Ten Thousand Villages in Lancaster will allow customers in the south central areas of Pennsylvania area to purchase handcrafted home decor, personal accessories and gift items from across the globe.

“On behalf of the entire Ten Thousand Villages Lancaster team, we are eager and excited to invite our neighbors to experience the handcrafted products made by our fair trade artisan partners,” expressed Marie Ebersole, Ten Thousand Villages Company Store Division Manager.

The store officially opened on September 3 with hours of operation: Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. The Lancaster store includes many unique handmade gift items, including hand-woven wool scarves from India, hand-tooled silver cuff bracelets from Niger and semi-precious Leopardite earrings from Peru, as well as shoulder bags embroidered with traditional Hmong designs from Thailand.

Ten Thousand Villages Lancaster joins the Ten Thousand Villages Ephrata store, also in the south central Pennsylvania market, to complete a network of more than 150 retail outlets throughout the United States selling Ten Thousand Villages products.

For more than 60 years, Ten Thousand Villages has been establishing long-term buying relationships in places where skilled artisans lack opportunities for stable income. All artisans are fairly paid for their products.

A variety of opportunities to volunteer at the new location are available to the public. Individuals and organizations interested in learning more should visit the store and speak with the store manager.
